Welcome to Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic VA School website
In our school we believe that each person is unique and created to flourish in God’s image.
We aspire to excellence through a nurturing environment in which every child takes Jesus Christ as their model and develops their individual gifts so that they live fully and serve others.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School was built in Penshaw in 1937 and since then we have worked in partnership with our parish to build a vibrant Catholic community. Our children are happy and valued, they grow in faith and achieve academically, they form lasting relationships and contribute generously to the life of the community.
We seek excellence in all and for all and our skilled staff provide exciting learning opportunities. We warmly welcome families and children from diverse backgrounds who support and enhance our Catholic ethos.
Please enjoy looking at our website where you will get an insight into our happy school and the successes of our wonderful children. We are delighted that once again our school has been awarded the Eco Schools Green Flag in recognition of the focus in school on protecting the environment and promoting green issues. Our congratulations go to Mrs Elder’s wonderful Eco Team!
We are also thrilled that the school has been recognised for its work on promoting British values and parliamentary processes and Mrs Maher has received the Teacher Ambassador Gold Award. We are the first school in the area to have this recognition.
The school was also successful in being awarded Matilda Champion School status by the Royal Shakespeare Company and we will commence a two year project to promote literature this term.
